It seems everyone in Evergreen, Bailey, and Conifer is looking for ways to get out of the house this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids.
We put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in Evergreen, Bailey, and Conifer (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months in Colorado:
1. Ice Skating at Evergreen Lake & Buchanan Ponds
Ice skating at Evergreen Lake is now open! Reservations MUST be made ahead of time. Currently Buchanan Ponds is not available due to unstable ice. Watch the website for updates.
2. Snowshoeing
Go snowshoeing on a local trail or venture to Golden Gate Canyon State Park which is an excellent area for the beginner snowshoer to try out the trails. There are 12 trails covering more than 35 miles. This park offers well marked paths, gentle slopes and incredible views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Snowshoes can be rented at local sports equipment rental stores.
Another local snowshoeing hot spot is Staunton State Park. You will need to bring your own equipment, but when snow hits, the trails are perfect for all ages. Park pass is required, daily pass is $10.

3. Sledding Hills
Sledding is a favorite winter activity of kids and adults alike. Check out our guide to local sledding hills and get your sleds ready!
4. Sledding and Tubing in Winter Park
Want to get out of town? Go sledding and tubing in Winter Park! You'll find mini-hills that tots will love and racing lanes that will thrill teens. The whole family will have a great time gliding down their snow-covered slopes.

Exciting news! The Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce is holding their annual 285 Winterfest Mt. Lugo Luge event! Save the date for Saturday, February 27th for this awesome in-person outdoor event. (nothing virtual about it!) More info here.
5. Stay at Lawson Adventure Park
Stay at one of the fully-furnished cabins at Lawson Adventure Park and enjoy some of the winter adventures in the area.
6. Hiking
In Colorado we are blessed with many mild winter days which are perfect for hiking. Bundle up if needed and venture out on some of the local hiking trails.
