Girls on the Fly holds a fishing adventure event on the 3rd Saturday of each month that offer a unique and empowering experience for young girls age 10-15 years of age. Combining outdoor adventure with personal development, participants will learn the art of fly fishing in a supportive and encouraging environment, guided by skilled and passionate volunteers.
Beyond fishing, the events include activities focused on building confidence, fostering teamwork, and promoting environmental stewardship. Not only perfect for girls looking to explore new interests and meet new friends, they will gain valuable life skills in a fun and natural setting.
Here's what a typical day looks like:
8:30am Arrival Time!
8:45 Safety, rules and expectations for the day, Introductions
9:00 Fly fishing basics & Games
9:45 Group A: Art Project
Group B: Knots, rigging, entomology, multiple flies, roll casting, etc.
11:00 Break/Snack
11:15 Group A: Knots and rigging
Group B: Knots, rigging, entomology, multiple flies, roll casting, etc.
12:30pm Lunch
1:00 Casting and Setting the Hook & Netting and Fish Handling & FISHING!!!!
4:00 Continue to fish while parents come to pick up!
4:30 Pack it up!
