We are Colorado's Folk School for Children. Founded on the simple belief that we all need the chance to connect with our roots, Living Arts School offers opportunities for children to experience the richness of the natural world, as well as the quiet beauty we find in working with our hands. We seek to enrich our community’s natural, cultural and artistic legacy, and to support a movement of the people towards heart-centered resiliency and awake, aware living. In a world that moves faster and faster, we advocate a slower, gentler experience, in settings that inspire creativity, connection and beauty.
Wee Folk Forest Kindergarten is a "rain or shine" outdoor preschool/kindergarten with multiple locations in Colorado for children ages 2 1/2 to 6, and children 0 to 2 1/2 in our Parent/Tot program. We are inspired by the Waldkindergartens and Forest Schools of Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Finland, where children spend the early years of their education in entirely outdoor settings. There are enormous benefits for children who attend forest kindergartens, ranging from social-emotional and sensory-motor health to a richly developed sense of place, and active imaginations. When observed, these children convey an empowerment uncommon for their age, and a contentment that will make anyone "run for the forest".
At Wee Folk Forest Summer Camps, we offer your 2 1/2 to 6-year-old child the opportunity to deeply connect with nature, forming the foundation for a lifelong love of the earth.
Living Arts Summer Camp, now in our 10th year, is a celebration of imagination and creativity. Our 6-12-year-old campers are invited to step into mystical and magical worlds--full of forest creatures, trolls, fairies, folklore, feasts, and even Bigfoot!
