Living History Days at Staunton State Park

Experience the Story of Staunton State Park.

Staunton State Park near Pine is having their 8th annual Living History Days on September 11-12. This event will help you and your family to experience the story of Staunton State Park.

Activities at Visitors’ Center include:

  • Park historical displays on Staunton State Park, the Staunton family, and more!
  • Local historical organizations with interesting displays! (SATURDAY ONLY)
  • Local history authors table: Meet the authors and learn about Harvey (the invisible white rabbit), and stories and secrets of the Elk Creek Valley. (SATURDAY ONLY)
  • Historical Park Families: Meet some members of families closely tied to Staunton State Park! (SATURDAY ONLY)


Activities around the park include:

  • Take a hayride to the Historic Cabin District!
  • Go to the Staunton Cabin to sample Johnny Cakes and lemonade, learn about trappers and hunters, create Indian talking sticks, watch a cabin building demonstration, enjoy music from Rex Rideout, play historical games, and more!
  • Search for the hidden treasure of the Notorious Reynolds Gang! Also, try out our “Historic Homestead” mission on Agents of Discovery!
