Bucket List Family Travel: Meow Wolf Santa Fe, House of Eternal Return

Meow Wolf Denver, coming soon!

By Julie Dikken, Publisher of Evergreen.Macaronikid.com and Arvada.Macaronikid.com April 15, 2021

After spending many months at home, our family finally ventured out into the "real world" over spring break. As we ease into a post-covid existence, we felt comfortable taking a road trip to see family with a few well planned (and highly anticipated) pit stops along the way. As it turned out, this was the perfect way to get back into vacationing. Memories were made, bucket list items were checked off, and we got to spend time with family that we haven't seen since before shut-downs. Meow Wolf Santa Fe hosted my family for a tour and was by far our favorite stop.

Meow Wolf House of Eternal Return, Santa Fe New Mexico

We’ve had our eyes set on visiting Meow Wolf for years, and I have to say, this exhibit did not disappoint. There is so much to see at every corner, nook, cranny, cupboard, closet, washing machine, and fridge (literally every inch of this place is covered in spectacular details). You honestly need to see it to believe it. The facility is a maze of over 70 rooms that begins with the entry into a quite impressive Victorian manor. Inside, artists filled each room with creativity (like the colorful candy room and the black and white drawing room pictured below), it’s quite mind boggling to think of how they fit it all in, let alone the ingenuity and artistry it took to create. When you arrive, you drive up to a pristine, white building, curious to what you’ll find inside. After the tour you're left with feelings of wonder -- who created this fabulousness and how did they fit all the artistic amazement inside one building? The exhibit features a full sized bus, sitting on its tail end that you can drive! Meow Wolf is creativity to the extreme.

What is Meow Wolf?

Moew Wolf is an immersive, interactive, explorable experience through an art installation like no other. Created by over 200 full-time employees as well as tons of others who collaborate to make the exhibit a reality.  Meow Wolf is a place of wonder and awe and perfect fit for all ages.

One thing is for certain, pictures don’t do it justice. Get this place on your bucket list! It’s very worth it!

Meow Wolf Denver, Coming Soon!

Meow Wolf Denver is Meow Wolf's 3rd permanent installment. The 90,000 sq. foot facility has been built just outside Downtown Denver and, as we speak (or as you read, to be more accurate) the interior is being filled with interactive art by over 110 local artists and the Meow Wolf team. Lucky for us Colorado locals, this exhibit will be the biggest of the three permanent exhibits and is on track to open this year! Watch their sneak peek video here.

Be sure to plan your trip in advance and purchase tickets through their online portal. To keep visitors safe ticket sales are limited and sold in time slots.  Many rooms only allow entry to one family at a time. This is not a tour! You gain entry then wander and explore to your heart's content. Carve out at least 2 hours of your day to fully explore and take in the amazement of each room. Older kids and adults will enjoy the hidden story along with the exploration. Look for hidden QR codes throughout and follow along! Meow Wolf Omega Mart in Las Vegas and the upcoming Meow Wolf Denver have also been added to my family's bucket list, because after you've visited one, you'll want to see them all! Tickets prices range from $20 (non-resident children) to $30 (non-resident adult) with discounts for seniors and members of the military.

My family received tickets to Meow Wolf Santa Fe to facilitate in the writing of this review. All views are my own.
