YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center is launching free outdoor education curriculum for guests.
The easy-to-follow, hands-on science and ecology lessons are developed for children in 4th-8th grades, including guides and fully-equipped kits to provide parents tools to teach grade-level appropriate science lessons such as:
- Elk Ecology
- Water Ecology
- Montane Forest Ecology
- Outdoor Living Skills
- Route Orienteering
- Night Hikes
The self-guided classes align with Colorado state standards including reading, writing, geography, life science, earth science, and physical science. In addition, staff-guided lessons are offered for the whole family, such as Bear Talk, Bugs Bugs Bugs, geocaching, creek stomping, fire quest, and more.
