Who the heck goes on a diet during a pandemic? I am not going to lie, I have questioned my thinking once or twice over the last few weeks. Sticking to a weight loss program while the whole family is home on a nationwide quarantine has had its struggles, and it seems it is so easy to focus on nothing but the struggles right now. When I shift the focus a bit, it is becomes clear that it has been easier to stay committed to my weight loss goals - even during this crazy time - than it would have been had I not been on the Jenny Craig Program

I’m not doing this thing all on my own. I have Ashley on the line… literally. Each week she listens to my struggles and helps me come up with ways to get through them. This third week in quarantine seemed filled with endless difficulties and many times I felt I wanted to dig into the Easter Bunny’s candy stash and hide in a closet. I didn’t though and I owe it to my consultant Ashley, and the Jenny Craig program for keeping me on plan. 

After our last call where I poured my heart out to poor Ashley, I sat down and reflected on my notes. Using Ashley’s advice I came up with these three key points to be my new focus for the week.  

The number on the scale may not be going down as quickly as you’d like (even though it IS on track) - the fact you are seeing a difference, and the clothes are fitting better… those too are positive results. Celebrate them! 

We are all trying to find a new normal, so now is the perfect time to define what that new normal will be. The Jenny Craig Program is teaching me habits that I can carry with me for the rest of my life.

Take the extra time now available in your day to do something good for you. Drink a glass of water, prep vegetables and fruit for easy to grab snacks, go outside for a walk and some fresh air, or get some strength training in. Choose better options than sitting on the couch, you will feel so much better afterwards.

Looking at things from a new point of view has drastically changed my mindset, making me feel so much more successful in this journey. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I'm not thinking about highjacking the Easter baskets anymore and I'm seeing more progress on the scale  and the view in my mirror (I've lost nearly 7 pounds to date!)*  I am proud of my results so far and excited to see where I will be in the weeks to come. Most importantly, I am thankful I have Ashley on my side to help me get over the hurdles along the way. *Average weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week for members following the program.
