I'm Smiling Because I Did Something Just For Me!

Why I Am Happy I Chose Invisalign® Treatment with Williams Orthodontics

April 25, 2019

Memes like this encourage us to be happy with how we are, just as we are. They tell us "It's what's inside that counts."  I believe those words whole heartedly and strive to bring my teenaged daughter up with that mindset. So when I first toyed with the idea of seeing an orthodontist to cosmetically fix my smile at my age, it sort of felt like I was going against the grain.

Friends and family made comments like "Your teeth are already perfect." or "I wish I had your smile."It's heartwarming to hear kind words, but it didn't change how I felt when I looked in the mirror.  I was literally watching my teeth move into places they weren't before. I noticed the gap between my front teeth close (which was awesome) but then noticed my teeth kept moving to where one tooth started to jam up against another, causing that tooth to cram up to the tooth next to it. (Yes, I am fully aware that I may spend too much time in the mirror examining my mouth, but that is a topic for another therapy session) These changes seemed to be progressing making me worry about what my smile would look like in 5 or 10 years from now.

When it was time for my daughter to have her first orthodontic consultation, I figured why not schedule an appointment for myself at the same time? What would it hurt?

I did the research, asked friends and colleagues for recommendations and confidently settled with Williams Orthodontics to make our first appointment.

That was about seven months ago and the beginning of both my daughter's and my journey to a new smile thanks to Williams Orthodontics and their Invisalign® treatment.  In just seven months I walked out of their office with a new found confidence in my smile.

My point is - YES, we absolutely should talk nice to ourselves and work at loving ourselves more every single day. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't do things that will make us feel even better about ourselves, does it? I exercise every day, not because I am unhappy with my body, but because I know it will improve my health. I choose better food options (most of the time) because I have more energy when I do. I turned to Dr. Williams to fix my smile because I wanted straighter teeth and didn't want to have problems later in life. If I now have the confidence to go through life with an even BIGGER smile, that is just an added benefit!

If you see something in your smile that makes you want to hide your teeth, I encourage you to schedule an appointment with Williams Orthodontics. It's a FREE consultation so what can it hurt? Like me, you may find that you are just a few short months away from a smile you won't want to hide.
