When the last baby tooth finally made its way out of my daughter's mouth we knew it was time to get started on the braces journey. We had the option to get the stinker pulled, but we preferred to take the natural route. The problem was that stubborn tooth decided to wait until she was well into high school to make its exit. Needless to say my daughter wasn't too excited about starting her Sophomore year with metal on her teeth. These days smiles don't seem to come as often as I'd like (around her parents at least), so I feared that traditional braces would keep that pretty smile hidden even more.
My biggest concern when Emma asked about Invisalign® was - would she wear them enough to allow for the process work. With traditional metal braces, they glue those suckers in. She would have no choice but to wear them, but with Invisalign®, she takes them out when she eats. Would she forget to put them in after her meals and snacks, or just not wear them if she chose not to? Mom's Top Priorities
- Just as Effective as Metal Braces. Dr. Williams became certified with Invisalign® in 2002 and is a preferred provider. Knowing that he is trained in the technology to treat most common and even complex concerns was an important aspect to our decision making.
- Cost is About the Same as Metal Braces. We were pleasantly surprised when we read through the quotes for both traditional metal braces and Invisalign® that there wasn't a huge difference between the two.
- Teens Really Do Wear Their Aligners. Studies show that teens wear their aligners (even more than adults do!) Plus, Invisalign® clear aligners have built in compliance indicators, so we can be sure that she does!
- Invisalign® Teen Guarantee. If we aren't completely satisfied within the first 6 months of treatment, our teen can be switched into traditional wires braces at no additional cost. Best guarantee ever! Since Emma knows this is an option, she tends to wear them even more than the prescribed 22 hours a day.
- Seeing Her Smile. The picture below says it all. I'm seeing that beautiful smile a lot more often these days and I know it is partly due to the confidence she has while wearing her Invisalign® clear aligners.

My Teen's Top Priorities:
- You Really Can't See Them. These clear aligners are just as they promise - Clear! Unless you are looking really closely, you wouldn't even know they are there. The only things that tips you off is the rubber bands that she is wearing to correct her bite.
- Fewer Appointments to the Orthodontist. We will be missing fewer classes or practices because we only need to visit the orthodontist once every 8 weeks. The fact that our appointments will be at the nearby Conifer office means even less time out for Orthodontic care.
- You Can Eat Whatever You Want. She takes her aligners out when she eats or drinks anything but water, which means popcorn, gummy bears, pizza and corn on the cob are still on the menu. This makes brushing and flossing easier too!
