I’m not a huge fan of back-to-school anything, mostly because it means that the lazy days of summer are coming to an end. When I start to see ads on tv and social media reminding me it's time to start the back to school process, I get a tiny pit in my stomach, especially when I think of shopping.

This year I wanted back-to-school to be different and decided to turn this end-of-summer task into an entertaining experience for all of us. Instead of our normal trip to the big box store, where shoe shopping is more of a quick grab-and-go with the grocery shopping, we went to a wonderful little store in Cherry Creek called Little Feet. This store is a delightful change of pace and reminds me of a time when shoe shopping was fun for kids and adults. The cheerful atmosphere and the personable sales team are what makes the difference.

How is Little Feet different?

Little Feet is a Kid Friendly Store

I could tell my little one was comfortable because as soon as we walked in the door she headed towards a play area. If the kids feel comfortable, moms will too!

Courteous, Friendly, and Knowledgeable Employees

I love to be welcomed as a soon as I walk in, and Little Feet made us feel right at home, introducing themselves, asking and using our names. Most importantly engaging us in conversation to learn about which shoe brands would be a perfect fit for her lifestyle.

Fit is High Priority

We didn’t even look at shoes before they had us sit down to measure her feet. The measuring is important for so many reasons, but this way we were able to avoid a young girl falling in love with a pair of shoes but end up heartbroken because they wouldn’t be a great fit for her feet. Genius tactic! We also learned little tips like a kid’s shoes should have about a thumbnail length room for growth.

Great Selection

After measuring, Little Feet came back with several shoes in the colors she loved, styles she needed and all in the right size.

Plenty of Patience

For a seven year old girl, shoes need to be the right color, the right style, comfortable and for our little one, her favorite socks need to NOT show. We greatly appreciated the patience shown to us while we tried several pairs before making our selections.

Brand is Important

We also learned on this trip that shoe brand is just as important as fit. We needed to find shoes that will take her well into the school year and all the activities she will engage in throughout the year.

We happen to have a runner, jumper and climber, so we settled on an pretty pair of purple Saucony sneakers. These were her favorite!

She is also a bit of a “fashionista” and has a knack for style. The shoes that best fit this personality style were stark white Keds. Because these little gems are leather means they will be staying white too!

We spend plenty of time out in nature, so a pair of sturdy, comfortable yet fashionable Merrill shoes were also a must.

Now with our back-to-school shoe shopping complete, our little one is ready to head off to a new school year excited to show off her new shoes. I’m just as happy to spread the news about Little Feet.
