Molly is a beautiful 2 ½ year old Cattle dog/Shepherd mix. She has been with us for 6 long months and is just waiting to be fully understood by someone. You see, Molly is a damsel in distress, she comes from a life of hard labor and not a lot of affection or kindness. She was once a working girl, out on the hard fields and living out of a barn. Her life was pretty bleak back then but then she was surrendered, and though we don’t know why she found her way into the shelter world, she eventually came to our doors from one of our in state transfer partners in our Lifeline Transfer Program. She was petrified with each and every change in her life, our world was big and scary compared to her relatively tiny life on a farm. She grew to love the shelter staff and volunteers, the kennel and her dog house in the outdoor runs became her security blankets. With lots of patience and coaxing we have discovered that Molly truly is a princess. As we slowly introduced different dogs we found that she does not like female dogs. She does however take to goofy, handsome boy dogs that won’t argue too much with her and listen when she gets grumpy, isn’t that what any real princess wants? Prince Charming?

Molly has gone on several trial adoptions these past few months as she finally began to relax and show up calmly and even affectionately for potential adopters. Each of those homes tried valiantly to offer her the castle she so deserves but each one just wasn’t quite right and Molly reverted backwards to her extreme anxiety and hatred of change and each time returned to us with relief in her eyes.

Molly, like others, just needs her perfect match. She really needs a perfectly silly prince charming who will introduce her to her new home and help soothe her fears of new places. She would like to blossom from princess into the queen of her castle but for that she needs a prince! If you have a dog who you think might just be Prince Charming in canine form and have been thinking that he might need a friend, Molly could be that perfect match. She just needs time, patience and a whole lot of love just like all the dogs we save here at Intermountain Humane Society.

If you think your home might be just the right fit for this very special princess then consider coming to the shelter and meeting her. Call the shelter with any questions at (303) 838-2668, and to schedule a time to come meet her. IMHS is open seven days a week from 11 AM to 4 PM.
