If you have ever tried to build a snowman with our dry, powdery Colorado snow, you know it's not the easiest thing to accomplish. You start with a small ball and try rolling it into a perfect round base for the body, but in reality what you end up with is a mound with sticks, rocks and a carefully placed carrot for the nose.
The crew putting together the 285Winterfest Celebrations has that problem all worked out for you! They are creating blocks of snow so you can CARVE your own snowman! Better yet - you could even win a prize for doing it.
The snowman carving competition is part of 285Winterfest on Saturday, February 25th, 2017. Each team will have one block of snow sponsored by a local business from which to carve their snowman. The fee is $5 per person, BUT if you register for the Family Package in the Mt. Lugo Luge (only $20 for four entries) you get FOUR Snowman Carving registrations for FREE! That is a $20 savings people! Reserve your block of snow by filling in this form. Hurry, these go quickly!
- Carving begins at 11:30am and ends at 1:30pm
- Awards: Judging will be by popular vote by attendees at the 285Winterfest.
- Medals will be awarded at 3:30p.
- You may use any accessories to add to your snowman. Snowman must be suitable for all viewing audiences.
- Each carving team must build his or her snowman during the two hour time frame.
- Teams are encouraged to add their own creative touches that will make their snowman unique. You may add any accessories you like but we encourage you to make your snowman unique using your carving skills.
- Judging will be based upon originality and creativity.
