Just a bit about myself. My story doesn't start with picking up a camera as a child and knowing I would be a photographer. When I was young I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. My husband purchased my first DSLR camera in 2003 because I was taking so many photos of my middle child, who was an infant at the time. I found out how much I really enjoyed it. It was then that I began taking classes here and there to learn how to use the camera properly. In Dec. of 2010 I decided I wanted to take photography more seriously and enrolled at the Art Institute. At the time, all I knew was that I wanted to be a portrait photographer. In the spring of 2012 I attended a newborn photography workshop, it was then and there that I knew I wanted to focus on infants more than anything. I graduated in June of 2013 and was told by my portfolio instructor I was the very first person to go through their program as a newborn photographer. While infants are my favorite and the hardest to photograph I also enjoy photographing maternity, birth stories (which can be so emotional and rewarding for me and for my clients) milestone sessions and another favorite, cake smash sessions.
You may ask why photography? Well my birth mom passed away when I was a year and a half. I have no memories of her and for me that is the hardest. I would rather have some memories of her than none what-so-ever. I also have very limited photos of her and even more limited photos of her and I together when I was an infant. For me photos are not just pictures, they are a very important part of our history. Each image tells a story and each image has a back story. When I photograph infants, it is very important for me to include the parents during the session, even if they don't want to. These images will one day be passed down to your children and I promise you they will treasure those images forever!
I would love to capture the most important times of your family's life and turn them into treasured memories!
