Platte Canyon Little League ~ Now Serving Evergreen, Morrison

Registrations open for 2015 season

The Platte Canyon Little League has served the Bailey, Pine and Conifer areas for many years and this year the is expanding, and is now serving youth in the Evergreen and Morrison areas!

The Platte Canyon Little League pledges to be "100% dedicated and committed to making your family participation with us a truly positive experience in every possible way." Athletes will play with friends and make new ones, be taught baseball basics through advanced skills, stay active both physically and mentally, gain self esteem and confidence, work with well mannered experienced coaches, learn team sportsmanship and discipline, learn positive life lessons and more.

The season begins with practices starting in March and will run through the end of June. Opening day will be on May 2nd at the Burland Ballfields. Walk-in registrations dates are January 31st and February 7th from 10am to noon, at the Burland Ballfields main office, 47 Bludbird Drive, Bailey. Tryouts will be held at Platte Canyon High School on February 21st for Juniors & Seniors Divisions, and February 28th for Minors & Majors. Tryouts are for team placement, all players who complete the application will be invited to play!

Platte Canyon Little League Baseball Divisions and Descriptions:

Tee Ball - ages 5-6
Instructional Program where kids are taught fundamentals of hitting, running, fielding, and throwing in a fun environment.

Coach Pitch - ages 7-8
Instructional program that builds on fundamentals giving less experienced players more time to gain skill level before moving up to the Minors.

Minors - ages 9-10
Instructional program that keeps the momentum going with various drills of repetition that build on player skills before moving up to the majors.

Majors - ages 11-12
Advance into intermediate coaching techniques that will improve all skills and game knowledge to a higher level preparing players for the Juniors.

Juniors - ages 13-14
This is the stage where every aspect of the game is coached and played at full throttle for 7 innings. The players focus only playing positions best suited for their individual ability. Base to base distance is 90 ft. and the distnace from pitching mound rubber to home is 60.5 ft. Runners can lead off of bases. All of the fine tuned nuances of game strategies are coached and drilled. The total number of regular season games increase to thirty or more. Leaving Jrs. division, players are ready for Little League Seniors or High School JV/Varsity ball.

Seniors - ages 15-16
At this level players are conditioned to play as many games and tournaments as possible, then on to High School Varsity ball in hopes of being scouted by a college.
