It is cold outside, that is a fact. But we aren't a community to whole up inside for the winter months. We live in a beautiful place filled with fun things to do. Many of them are outside, and many are FREE!

One favorite free community activity is Ice Skating at Pine Lake located at Pine Valley Ranch. On December 29th the lake had frozen to a depth of at least 8 inches and was officially opened to the public. The community is now welcome to play!

You won't find concession stands, skates or equipment for rent, but if you have your own, or know of where to find some, everything else you need for a fun day of skating is free for the community to enjoy. Pine Valley Ranch Park features a warming hut complete with a fire place stocked with wood and newspaper and plenty of tables to rest at while sheltered from the cold. This rink isn't maintained, but you will find snow shovels to clear the snow. The ground is covered with pads to protect your skates as you exit the rink and make your way to the warming hut.

Ice skating is open during park hours which is one hour before sunrise and closes one hour after sunset. The park would like to remind you that firewood collection and team sports are prohibited, but if you are looking for a fun and free place to skate and play, Pine Lake is the perfect spot.

"All ice activities are at visitors' own risk. Skating hazards on the lake include cracks, rough/uneven patches, sticks and other debris. Stay clear of the ice when standing water, slush, or thin ice is present." Quoted from Pine Valley Ranch website.
