I frequently use apps to save money, mostly for the two local grocery stores I shop at. I’m not a huge fan of paper coupons, I like the ease of searching through an app to find the discounts I will use.
The OneRx app works similarly to the grocery store apps I use, EXCEPT that it searches for the best prices of the drug you are needing all over town. I normally favor one pharmacy but quickly learned from the OneRX app, that the price at the pharmacy down the street may actually be lower.
Simple to Use, Simple to Save
After downloading the OneRx app (ioS or Android), the first step is to get your insurance information loaded. All it takes is a quick snap of a picture of both the front and back of your card. Information gets scanned in, and most times, within a few minutes processed and verified by OneRx. Note that this app works even if you don’t have insurance.
Then you simply search for the prescription you need. I looked up Zithromax, the drug I was prescribed recently to treat a sinus infection, curious to see if I could have gotten it for a better price. The app showed me that this was a brand name drug, but that a generic was also available. I clicked the search button to find the lowest price near me for both the brand name and the generic option. This quick step showed me I would save a lot of money by choosing the generic option. What I love about this app, is that I could do this all before leaving my doctor's office, so I would be able to discuss with my Doctor the generic and brand name, to be sure I made the right choice.
Once I decide on the generic or brand drug, I now have the information as to where to find the best price before I head out to get my scrip filled. If I am going to save money by heading to a different pharmacy a block away, I’ll do it. I like to get the best deal I can!
Not only will OneRx help you find the best price, it will tell you if your insurance covers the drug, or if you require prior authorization. This is great information to have before you leave the doctor’s office. Solving any issues and getting questions answered before heading to the pharmacy is a huge time saver, not to mention stress reliever.
